Remotes may be coded as follows; i. If needed hinge the Courtesy Lamp Cover open to expose the “Learn or Code Set Button otherwise it is on the rear of the motor head.ii. Decide which button of the new remote will control the openeriii. Momentarily press the "Learn or Code Set Button (* LED Indicator will glow solid)iv. Momentarily press the New Remote button you want to control the door - LED indicator will extinguishv.  Momentarily press the same Remote button again - LED indicator will begin to flash rapidly, programming is complete once the LED Indicator ceases to flashvi. Remote Programming

1. Hold down the top, right button (P1 BUTTON) until the LED lights up (3 seconds), then release the button.
WITHIN 5 SECONDS
2. Hold down any button on the remote until the LED LIGHT on the Control Card flashes 3 times
(About 4 Seconds), then release. (Remembering what button on the Remote was pressed for opening and closing cycle)
3. When the LED LIGHT goes out on the Control Card, the programming is complete.
4. Repeat for all others remotes.

Deleting all Remote Codes


1. Press the P1 BUTTON on the CONTROL CARD and hold it
2. Wait until the LED lights up, then wait until it goes off, then wait until it has flashed 3 times.
3. Release the P1 BUTTON precisely upon the third flash.
4. Wait approximately 4 seconds for the deletion to be completed; during this time the LED LIGHT will flash very quickly.
5. Test REMOTE, they shouldn’t work




CODING TO A RECEIVER - MODE 1 (GATE ONLY)

1. Open the casing of your receiver. It is located next to your motor.
2. On the receiver circuit board, press the programming button P1 (“MEMO” for certain
models). Keep it pressed down. The LED light on the receiver illuminates. Let the button go.
3. Press the T1 button on your new remote control. Let it go. The LED light turns off.
4. Wait 1 second.
5. Press the T1 button again. The LED light on the receiver blinks three times. Let the button go.
6. Wait 10 seconds.
7. Your new remote control is programmed.

CODING TO A RECEIVER - MODE 2 (GATE & GARAGES)

In Mode 2 each button requires coding individually...

1 - If the transmitter to be coded is already incorrectly such as Mode 1 the remote must be deleted 
2 - Press key P1 on the control unit twice. 
3 - Check that LED P1 flashes quickly three times. 
4 - Within 10s press the required button on the radio transmitter for at least 2s to code it. If the coding procedure is successful, the LED P1 will emit 3 slow flashes. 
5 - If there are other transmitters to be coded for the same type of command, repeat step 03 within the next 10s otherwise the coding phase end automatically.

Program a BENINCA TOGO WV4 remote to your Gate or Garage Door Opener

USING AN EXISTING REMOTETake a previously coded remote & be within 3 meters of the device to be activated.


ALREADY CODED OLD STYLE REMOTE - With a dress maker’s pin or a small paperclip insert into the small hole in the rear of the remote & activate the hidden button for 1 second.


Or,ALREADY CODED TOGO WV4 REMOTE - Remove the battery cover to expose hidden button & activate the hidden button for 1 second.

NEW TOGO WV4 REMOTE - press & hold the button you want to activate the device for 2 seconds.  Allow 10 seconds for reset & test.


WARNING - If more than 1 device is to be coded & they are within range of each other (40m) then turn the garage receiver off while coding the gate (so you do not to code both to the same button) then reverse the operation by turning off the gate & coding the garage door receiver..When LED flashes on transmission – battery is low & requires replacing

VIA THE CONTROL BOX Loosen the retaining screws on each side of the motor housing and lift to remove & set aside

Locate the black plastic box inside the motor assembly and remove it’s cover by releasing the tab at the top end and swinging down before moving it out and away from the assembly &  set aside.

There are 3 push buttons next to the LCD display marked “-“, “prog” and “+” on the circuit board.

1. Press “prog” button once. Display will show “Log”.
2. Press “-“ button twice. Display will how “Rad”.
3. Press “prog” button once again. Display will show “pp”.
4. Press “prog” button once again. Display will show “Push”.
5. Press the required button on the new remote control. 

Display will briefly show “ok” andthen return to “pp”. Subsequent new remotes can then be added by returning to step 4.

Test all remotes are working as they should. Reassemble the covers to their correct positions and re-tighten the retaining screws on the outer cover.

Program a FAAC XT4RC 433MHz remote to Your Garage or Gate Opener

Programming for the FAAC gate remote control direct to the FAAC receiver.


1. Press the button (for the channel you wish to program on the receiver) for 1 second then release.
2. The relevant LED on the receiver will flash slowly for 5 secs.3. Within 5 seconds, press the appropriate button on the new FAAC XT44RC remote control for 3 seconds.4. The LED on the receiver will light up steady for 1 second, indicating memory storage completed, and then resumes flashing for another 5 seconds, during which period another radio control can be stored.5. When 5 seconds have elapsed, the LED goes OFF - indicating the end of programming procedure.6. To store other radio remote controls, repeat the above procedure.

The FAAC receiver supports remote learning, you do not need to open receiver box.


You will need a FAAC remote control already programmed.

1. Take an already stored FAAC radio remote control.
2. Press and simultaneously hold buttons P1 and P2 on original remote control until LED on receiver board lights up.3. The LED will flash slowly for 5 secs.4. Within 5 seconds, press the button of original already programmed remote control to enable learning on the selected channel.5. The LED on the board relating to the channel being learned flashes for 5 seconds, within which time the code of your new FAAC remote control must be transmitted.6. The LED lights up on steady for 2 seconds, indicating memory storage completed, and then resumes flashing for 5 seconds, during which you can program another radio remote control.7. When 5 seconds have passed, the LED will go OFF - indicating the end of programming procedure.

Firmadoor & ATA Compatibility With Elsema 27.145Mhz System

Elsema used radical & state of the art technology to bring the remote security aspect of gate & garage door control into the 20th century.  At that time you could choose between 3 uncoded & unprotected frequencies.Taxis, police cars & planes could open you door as they went past.

Their innovation was to use 10 then later 12 x 2 position switches to form a digital code which when the receiver was set to the same switch sequence would activate the device.


FIRMADOOR FMT2 & ATA TXA1

Most installers will tell you this is rubbish & you need to replace the opener but:-

The story goes, Firmadoor (later to become Automatic Technology Australia - ATA) used the same system as Elsema & to get around copyrite laws reversed everything including the switch sequence.

So Firmadoor & ATA 12 switch single button remotes are 100% REVERSE compatible with ELSEMA 12 switch single button remotes. Just code backwards.

Switch 1 on the Firmadoor / ATA = Switch 12 on the Elsema
Switch 2 on the Firmadoor / ATA = Switch 11 on the Elsema
Switch 3 on the Firmadoor / ATA = Switch 10 on the Elsema

Down To 

Switch 12 on the Firmadoor / ATA = Switch 1 on the Elsema
Receivers are set with all 12 switches to match.

Multiple Button Remotes


This is where it get complicated.  The 2 & 4 button remotes come in 2 versions 10 Switch & 12 Switch

10 Switch 2 & 4 Button - Although you can see only 10 switches there are in fact 12 switches in use.

Firmadoor / ATA Button 1 = 11 & 12 off + code set 1 to 10
Firmadoor / ATA Button 2 = 11 & 12 on + code set 1 to 10

Firmadoor / ATA Button 3 = 11 off & 12 on + code set 1 to 10
Firmadoor / ATA Button 4 = 11 on & 12 off + code set 1 to 10

The receivers are set with the full 12 switch setting to match.


Elsema uses the same system invisibly switching 11 & 12 for the four functions.  As the Firmadoor / ATA 11 & 12 are the Elsema 1 & 2 it cannot work.

Answer - You have to junk the old & re-code the devices to Elsema.
If you have 2 x garages you can use 2 x single button Elsema remotes for car 1 & car 2 loosing control over both doors.

12 Switch 2 Button - This is used on unit or townhouse complexes.

When you press button 1 Common Entry you send out a code that has the switches set 1 to 4 with 5 to 12 off & the gate receiver is set to that code so everyone can use the gate.

This leaves the balance of codes for the individual garage doors, more than enough. So when you press button 2 your garage is secure as all 12 switches come into play.

Again ELSEMA uses the same system so it cannot work as 1 to 4 on one is 9 to 12 on the other.

Answer - Fit a 2nd Elsema receiver to the gate for Elsema remotes only & re-code garage door to Elsema Key 302DA code

NEW RELEASE - Merlin+ 2.0 E960M Premium Remote

Newly released (1st May 2015) this elegant remote features model morphing from Merlin+ 2.0 to Merlin+ with the ability to run both systems at the same time on the same remote.

Note: Merlin+ is a 433.92Mhz rolling code system which uses a different code each time a button is pressed & discards the code after use. Merlin+ 2.0 takes this a step further by transmitting the code on 3 frequencies 433.30 - 433.92 - 434.54Mhz.  The receiver must receive 2 codes to operate.

The design of this remote is well thought out & the finish is high quality.  It feels just right in the hand because they have got the proportions right.

Before coding you need to decide what buttons will be selected for + & + 2.0. The Merlin+ 2.0 is preset to the +20 system so to change it hold button 1 & 2 together wait until LED flashes.  then in turn press the buttons you want to be + & wait for reset.  Now you can code the remote buttons to the openers.
